There might be a little Cecelia in me

I remember as a little girl telling my mom that when I got married some day I wanted china just like my Grandmother Cecelia -Desert Rose. My grandmother was a high style lady in her day... she has every piece of this china that you can think of.

Although my style has changed... I laughed today when I was walking down the aisle at Marshalls. In the domestics aisle on sale for $1.99 and so fake looking it was ridiculous was some pieces of 'Francisian Desert Rose.'

I picked up a little saucer to put next to our coffee pot as a spoon rest for the spoons we use to stir our coffee.
Hey don't laugh at me. When we were antiquing on our honeymoon we had to pick up this cake plate for Blake. His Meme had one just like this and Blake was drawn to this one in particular because it had a dent 'right were Meme's did.'
I bet Grandmother and Meme are cracking up at us. :)

The grass is always greener

Pics of the new grass in the backyard... we love it! Once we have a good freeze and the swarm of skeeters that are living in it are killed off I'm going to go roll around in it. :)

Back right side of the yard. We planted some shrubs to hide the utility poles. We're also planning on putting a compost pile back there. Stinky!

Our poor little dogwood from Arkansas. It didn't take the trip from the apartment very well. The leaves are turning splotchy brown and we don't know what's wrong. Hopefully just a little wind damage.

Doesn't it resemble a little Charlie Brown tree?

Side of the house where I looked out the kitchen window the other day and saw a construction worker PEEING on the other side of our fence. I felt like Ethel when I knocked on the window and started yelling at him! "Don't do that here!" (In Spanish.) Ahh Dios miyo!
Blake's garden all mapped out. I can't wait for homegrown tomaters!
See the flood light we had the builder put up? Thinking ahead for washer tournaments!! :)

I love it

strive for honor, ever more,

LONG LIVE THE MA - TA - DORS!!!
omg - who saw the game Saturday night? (And if you didn't shame on you. They're replaying it on ESPN Tuesday night.)
Our Red Raiders dominated those wimpy longhorns 39-33.
A lot of us went to Wayne and Lauren's to eat wings and pizza, play beer pong, ping pong and washers, and root our RAIDERS TO VICTORY.
Eating up so we can build our stamina to cheer. Little Caesar's, pizza pizza.OK so here's the scene, we were all so paranoid that no one was allowed to move from these positions the whole game. Including potty breaks!! Including if you were standing!Including if you were Ben and you were sitting outside when we scored our first two points on a safety. Sorry bout cha Ben!!This pic is entitled Blake vs. THE DOOR. Wayne and Lauren have an old house and Blake was the only one who seemed to have problems with their sliding glass door.
FIRST TOUCH DOWN!!! My arm looks like it's 10 ft long.(Ben was a little delayed on his reaction.)
Lauren's uncomfortable seat that she was confined to. What an honorary Raider. OK so here's the pass to Crabtree with 1 sec left. (Lauren Mitchell did such a good job capturing these scenes.)Touchdown! Crank that Crabtree!!! He shrugged off that Texas defender like he was a 2nd grader.JUBILATION. I think my Dad is about to do a chest bump. Christy needs to move if she knows what's good for her. Keely and Stitch (the doggies) were PUMPED!HORNS DOWN! (Look at the Tech students rushing the field when the game wasn't over. Oh jeez.)Wayne and Lauren were pumped. Texting/calling all those Longhorns that were talking mess before the game. Not so sure of yourselves now are you? Why don't you go help your QB wipe the blood of his face?Celebratory beer pong.Wayne and Blake dominated.
Lauren and Greg getting beat at beer pong. I love that shirt. I want a BEVO BURGER!
Ping pong champs. How Charlie was standing at this point in time I don't know.

Why do I love Tech so much?
1. We're like the red headed stepchild team of Texas. No matter how well we do, Houston radio, tv and the Chronicle never mention us. And don't even BRING UP the sportscasters on ABC Sat night. Colt McCoy could commit murder and they would turn it into something positive. (We totally wanted to turn down the volume on the tv and listen to the Tech announcer on the radio but we were afraid we'd mess up our chi.) I did feel sad after he got sacked for the 4th time and had blood running down his face. NOT!!
2. Our kicker is a WALK ON who won a contest at half time at one of the home games. We're so scrappy I love it.
3. Our coach thinks he's a pirate and quotes Sharon Stone after wins.
4. We CRANK THAT CRABTREE. :)
5. And to anyone who says we ONLY won bc of that last TD: numbers don't lie. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/76970-texas-texas-tech-by-the-numbers

TRICK OR TREAT... Smell my feet!

Happy Halloweenie!!
Blake and I went out to Whiskey Creek with Jason, Christy, Lauren Jacobson and Ben (Andy's brother who just moved back to Houston with his wife Lauren. Woohoo more friends!) And Wayne and Lauren and Carla and James met up with us later on. GOOD TIMES. For some reason some of us skipped dinner that night and were in rare form. (I was one of them.) But Halloween night out at a bar is always a good time either way!

Jason and Christy: GI Joe and Jane
Blake and I: Used car salesman and fighter pilot (lame repeat costume)Ben: Nacholibre!Lauren: firefighterAll of us dancing with party boy. He had those moves DOWN!Aren't you DIEING to buy a used caddy from this guy?Blake dipping me - sans the concussion.
I have never seen that shirt before and I don't want to know where you got it!!!
Hope everyone had a wonderful time and got some good candy!!!
